I need iPod help...

Bought an 8GB nano today and I am having problems getting music on to it. I downloaded iTunes and majority of the music that is on my computer did not transfer to the iTune library. So out of several hundred songs I have about 80 on my pod. Can anyone help?

Do a search on the computer for all of your music, then put all music you want on the Ipod in a folder and add the folder to the iTunes library then it should automatically transfer to the iPod.

I am sure I am doing it wrong, but I tried to add a new folder to iTunes from "My Playlists" and none of it transfers over. I am computer stupid so keep that in mind.

I had this same problem also. When you rip a CD to your computer (for use in Windows Media Player), and then want to use it in iTunes, the file has to be converted to the file format that iTunes utilzes. Most times it is unable to do this. Your best bet it to insert the CD, and let iTunes re-rip it. I think thjat main problem comes down to protected music, and iTunes is a little funny about where it gets it's music from!

shoulda bought a creative or an iriver. You wouldnt be having these problems and you wouldnt have to use itunes either. With that said stixbaraca is right. With iTunes you have to have their format wheras with any other mp3 player out there you can use 99% of formats.

i think its because youre trying to import a playlist file instead of the actual song file

The "My Playlist" folder is usually just a marker for what is on the playlist, and where the player can find that particular song! The actually MP3 isn't locate there, or else every song on a playlist would be stored twice on your hard drive.

In iYunes...go to File...Add folder to Library...then navigate to where the actuall MP3 you want o iTunes is located. Select that folder and it should transfer. If it doesn't, then you'll need to rip each of those CDs directly to iTunes.

This has already been mentioned but it sounds like a formatting issue. Are the files in an mp3 format? If they're in the right format then itunes should automatically load them when you install it. If they're not in the right format then unfortunately your only recourse is to burn the CD's with itunes. If they are in the right format, then I would try reinstalling itunes since it should detect the music when it is installed. Hope that helps. Let us know what happens.

You can navigate the iPod through the head unit, and it is crystal clear sound!

When I got my iPod I went from using Windows Media Player to iTunes. When I had this problem, I burned the discs in WMP, then ripped them in iTunes!

In addition to the unit that Stix mentioned, a lot of the newer cars have an mp3/auxiliary input jack. My husband and I use this in our 2007 Honda civic to play music from our ipod and I can say it definitely comes through crystal clear.

I think I have it pretty much figured out. Part of the problem is for some reason I can only highlight and import 3 songs at a time. I was trying to do a bunch more than that and it would not work. Not sure why only 3 but at least it is working now.

Yeah, I thought hard about that. I wanted the iPod Classic 80GB but the store was out and I drove 40 minutes to get there so I settled for the nano 8GB so I did not go home empty handed. I almost pulled the trigger on an 80GB Zune. I just know that iPod has a good reputation for being quality. I just hope that 8GB is enough. I already have 2GB used up and I just got started.

I tried that already and no go. I my have done it from the wrong file though. I will give it another go once I get some more stuff downloaded.

actually there are other programs out there that can transfer to an ipod that are a gazillion times better than itunes. Just google it and you will find your answers.

Ipods are NOT quality and are only a "status" symbol. Always has been. Creative AND zune put out superior quality sound compared to any ipod out there. I myself am saving the $$$ for a zune since I got a free case for a zune from club.live.com. I bought my wife a 30gb creative zen vision:m that is pink 3 years ago and I have been able to upload 99% of my music videos (High def ones were the only ones I had to convert) to it and play them.

LOL half of that page is false. With that said I would like you to come up with ANY reason the ipod is better than creative because I have yet to have someone come up with a legitimate reason the ipod is better. Podcasts and crap like that are gay and dont count.
