Yes they are, they are getting more and more readily available too, if you dont need to turn a baseball bat, benchtop lathes are pretty affordable, probably fit your workspace better too!

I hit 40 a few years back. I opted for pickleball and golf.

Same. I wanted to give the desire 6 months before dumping money into it. I'd still take a class, but probably not build a forge.

I used to be athletic but I wasn’t one to join a club or team. Now I just get thrills looking into people’s windows.

I know a couple dudes locally that forge, both knives. One is full time commercial, does it with his family. The other is part time and is one of my co-workers for the other part. Those freaking knives sell for over $500. They are pretty nice though, but $500 for a pocket knife? That I for sure am going to try and use as a screwdriver/prybar?

I used to work with a guy from Oregon and he like won championships he was hard core it always seemed fun to me. Gets you outside doing nothing to serious which is where I'm at in life.

My brother is big into it. He has a ton of stories of bumping into cool people too, they hang out for the afternoon disk golfing and share adult beverages. Its fun to refer to the disks as frisbees around disc golfers...

Thanks for the tip. Just have to store that nugget in the brain cavity for the next time I’m strolling in the park.

Speaking of trolling -I post a prompt a few minutes ago and no one took the chance to bump up this thread when somebody suggested that the best exercise program on the planet is perhaps the thrill of doing the Peep Tom?

Yes the dude I worked with was way serious about it and would get worked up easily about people bashing the sport. This was unfortunate because he was a really nice dude and this was a super harsh work environment nothing but alpha's that thrived on people getting worked up and would just raze him harder. People suck sometimes LOL

I like to bike and tolerate running. But have young kids. So that doesn't happen much...

They really do get expensive, but there are some skilled people out there, so maybe they're with it.
