Hey everyone!
Walked into my tank being low on water this morning so started topping it off and noticed this strange slime in the sump/fuge. The skimmer was also bubbling over. Any clue what could be going on here?

Looks like white slime
The last time I had that issue it was caused by a spike in nitrates that was caused by a fish that had died and had been pulled under a rock by a crab.

Slime maybe from the skimate overflowing into sump and fallen to the bottom ? Just a guess but i would be more bothered about where the water went in your tank as not going to evaporate that much over night?
You got some kind of leak maybe?

How big is your tank?

You noticed the tank was low on water, then noticed the skimmer full of water....was that the water that was missing from your tank?

As for skimmer overflow usually something died or you did something different to the tank. What did you do recently that may be different?

Everyone is accounted for but may be an invert. I tested and they are in line.

It’s a reefer 350, it was a combo of the skimmer and me letting the top off tank dry up. The only think different is I cleaned out the detritus from the sump and moved the bio from a bag to the front of the sump, in the pic.

I had this happen cause of a carbon/o2 over dose. Exact same white slimy bubbly stuff. What worked for me to fix it was I had to put masking tape over the skimmer air vents. At the same time run cup drain line to a bucket. Removed filter socks also this stuff makes them worthless. Took about 2 weeks.
