Ok, my skimmer didn't come with any instructions. I can figure out everything other than the little orange tab that can open and close the little air hole in the top of the air intake manifold. Can anyone help me out? Photo of what I'm talking about attached

Did, coralvue was no help. They even have a section on their site for online manuals and when you click on most of the items the page is blank.

That tab restricts the amount of air getting pulled in I would assume.

What are you looking for specifically?

The orange tube on the other side of the skimmer controls the water flow. I don't know about this specific skimmer but open usually makes less water flow into the skimmer and closing allows more flow inside the skimmer raising the water level inside the body.

Opening the restriction on the air intake allows more air for more foam.

I'd open the air intake fully, then adjust the water flow to keep the foam sitting at the top of the throat inside the skimmer cup for a decently dry skim. Then, adjust the air to get the bubbles looking good and readjust the water flow as needed.

It might take a few days or even a couple of weeks before it gets settled and starts getting a consistent skim.

I hope that all makes sense?

Maybe they are confused because they accidentally labelled it "1k" instead of "k1" on the instructions page:

Although interestingly the instructions don't show that piece on the silencer, I believe it's to switch between quieter airflow or more air intake... essentially letting you quiet it further for a slight hit to performance

@flyweed we are of course happy to help! We have a series on YouTube just for the K1 Series!

That little orange tab is just a air restrictor plate, the more you cover it up, the less air in, but will change the dymanic of the pump, drawing more water and the velocity of the air increased! With the AC pump, this is nice feature for slight adjustment otherwise unmanageable without a DC Skimmer.
