Anyone ever use this? My purple tang has probably 6 white spots on him and I am concerned it might be ich. I lost a powder blue tang probably 4 months ago and I purchased some Chem-Marin about 1 month ago in anticipation of restocking with a few other tangs.
I heard it is an excellent product, but wanted to get some expert advice, not just a salesman at the fish store (who I trust, a little). It is my understanding I just need to monitor PH. I have a aqua jr, so that is not a problem. Please advise!
Thanks for your help!

I honestly don't think any of these meds kill ick, they can help the fish develop a thicker slime coat that makes it hard for ick to attach, but they don't kill the actual problem. Ick has a known life cycle.
I'd recommend using putting the tang to a QT and treating it with hypo or copper. You need to let the DT stay without any fish for 4-6 weeks in order to get rid of ick.

I had a full blown holocaust hit our larger tank and lost every single fish last summer. I kept that tank empty for 8 weeks and started restocking slowly. You should always QT any new fish for 3 weeks to be sure they are healthy.

I don;t stress with Ich. It's always in the tank IMO. If certain fish become stressed they get it. As long as the fish is eating and happy it iwll go away. Ich is overrated.

Proto Marin is the best stuff we have ever used. Our customers are 100% satisfied with it. I would highly recommend this stuff. You might have a tough time finding it right now though. It was passed by the FDA and now they are re-evaluating it. So it's illeagle to import into the U.S. according to my salesman. He told me a few months before it's passed by the FDA again. Maybe you can find a store that has extra stock of it. I know when we had it and the word got out we sold out in less than a week.

QT and treat with hypo sal. dont treat with any meds in display tank.

I did this with My Hippo Tank when he got ich when I first started in the hobby. he olny got worse from the stress, getting moved to QT, Hypo, etc. Since I have left the fish on 2 occasion, fed garlic dipped Nori and Ich was gone in 24 hours. As Long as the fish is eating and not stressed, it will go away QUICk.

Yea as long as they are eating leave them alone. But if they stop eating then you need to do whatever to try to save them.

hypo and copper work. put all new fish in a QT. Ich will not go away from feeding garlic its still in the your tank. garlic will boost the fishes immune system but immunity wont last forever.I quarantine all my fish and have never had an outbreak of Ich in my display tank my five years in the hobby.
