I have been using a kalk stirrer to the max I can according to my evaporation and then using AFR for the rest of my alk need. I run 15 gallon/56 Liters of RO through my kalk stirrer weekly and then still need about 60 mL AFR daily. The AFR has trace in it but the kalk does not.
I have used the ICP to try to dial in how much TM A/K to add to account for the lack of trace in the kalk since I do not do water changes. It has worked well so far. I have all of the trace in line and have only needed to add iodine and fluoride once every couple months when I send in an ICP. They make it easy and tell you exactly how much of their product to add.
Corals seem happy. SPS is growing well.
