ID Coral please

I bought an Elephant Ear Mushroom rock at the LFS. After placing it in my tank I see this unusual coral on the back side. It's about 1-1/2" across. I initially tried to remove it for placement elsewhere but I don't think I could without harming it. So it stays....

Any ideas?

To my very untrained eye it looks like a mushroom that hasn't been getting much light.

I'll follow along to see what others think.

I thought that may be the case too. This is the other side of the rock.

Light deprived mushroom of some sort.

By the look of the other side I would guess a light starved baby.

Definitely a light starved baby
