Hello! First post here, but I’m not gonna lie -I’ve used this forum for offhanded help for a while.
So. I’ve got a firework clove polyp I picked up a few weeks ago. I got very overzealous and tried a hydrogen peroxide dip to get rid of a little algae. Welllll he didn’t survive that little swim. So, hopes and dreams prevailed and I dropped the plug in my tank anyway.
Here’s where it gets strange. The stalks withered away and I watched my $50 circle the drain (I live in Hawaii, so you probably know why it’s so expensive).
About a week later, a verrrrry tiny polyp raises it’s head from the lump. 6 hours later it’s gone. Two days after that, another tiny polyp. Then gone. Now, I’m at the point where I get two or three every day, but it never fails, they all fall back and disappear.

Is this a thing that happens? Can I expect one to eventually stick? My uneducated thought is it’s building up surface mass until it’s finally able to support a full polyp?

In the right conditions those things are absolute weeds.

it will probably come back and you will be trimming it and selling frags.
