PLS-50 Elite II is working great for me so far. I had a aqua max HOB 1.5 on the tank at first (still have it) but i could not get it dialed in to produce skim mate. So far i am pleased with the PLS-50 as i havent even added fish and i am getting some good light brown skim mate.

Nice setup! Looking at skimmers now for my Nuvo 40. Did you get the PLS-50 Elite II from Mode Aquariums? Website had a bunch of misspellings so I’m skeptical. Also thinking about the Aquamaxx HOB 1.5 vs the PLS.

Yes, did get from Mode aquariums. I read some horror stories on MA . But I like to look and function of a full size skimmer in the AIO and took the chance. It took rough 2 week to receive.
I also have a Aquamax 1.5 HOB with bubble stopper but I could not get it dialed in. Had so many micro bubbles, so switched it out with the PLS 50 Elite II.

You’re very fortunate to have received that skimmer. Couple of other guys on here ordered them recently and never received them or had any contact from Mode. It seems like they are just gone.

Awesome build! I recently bought the same tank and was considering the Plank feeder. I’m curious if you had it set up yet and how you mounted it?

That sounds like a good deal then, especially with the dimmer so you can really dial it in. You can absolutely just go with the XR15s and then add supplemental lighting later if you think you need it.

I had one XR15G4 over my Lagoon 50 and it lights the tank just fine for viewing purposes. It created shadowing though because it’s a single point of light over a 30x20 area. Even with two Reefi Unos over the tank now I still need one more strip light at the front to eliminate some shadowing on the front of a few sps pieces. The Unos have plenty of power, they just can’t hit every angle.
And to think that I'm completely happy I followed your suggestion and mounted 2 XR-15 G5s on my IM 50 lagoon.

My suggestions should always be followed. I’m a freaking genius /s
When are you going to update you’re build thread so we can see a current fts of that well lit Lagoon 50?

Sorry been tied up with traveling with work. Not much of a update. Added SW mixing station in the small closet closest to the tank. Used the 7 stage RODI from BRS. Eventually i plan to automate this process.

Traveling has helped me from going way to fast on adding, giving the tank time to settle in. I have added 2 new additions to the tank 2 Black Ice Clowns. Sorry pic is not the best.

Love the NSA took some time as BRS didn't have the Marco Powder so i had to crush each of the small pieces of rock up to get the poweder needed. I wish that was offered before I started my build.

I should hold but paying this much for a product I would expect the manufacture to make it right. It would be Nice if IM designed the Ext overflows to be interchangeable. Like a Ghost overflow.
