IM EXT 100 Complete Reef System

Ordered a IM EXT 100 Complete Reef System on Tuesday and it was delivered Monday the next week. Got everything unpacked and will start building the stand this evening. Hoping to put the tank on the stand Sunday.

Stand is setup and in place. I’ll leave to doors off tell I’m done setting up. Total stand height is 41” sitting on the base. Next to get some pond liner and waterproof the bottom before putting in the MASSIVE RFS39 Acrylic Sump.


No way possible to get the sump in or out of the front. If it fails I’ll be cutting it out

Waterproofed, sump in and leveled in its final resting spot. My helpers backed out so I got an insured mover coming tomorrow to set the tank. I rapped a little masking tape around the top to help keep it from sliding but I guess worse case im waiting on a new tank. Should have it plumbed up by the end of the night.

I set the tank 10” from the wall to make sure my fat butt can get back there to work on it lol

Now it’s order and wait for some rock to arrive so I can start working on the scape.

No worries there, I made sure I could reach everything and made 100% sure there was gasket and o rings at all connections although I expect some kind of leak.

Ordered 100lbs of medium ARK Dry Reef Rock, Marco-400, extra thick super glue. I tasked my girlfriend with building the scape although I will be giving strong inputs. Had to get her involved or I would be in the dog house for spending this kind of money I’m planning yo run 2 AI Edge 44HD and as it matures and I start adding more sps I’ll add a third. I’ll do a 50/50 mix of special grade live and dry sand with 2x AI Nero 5 and 1x AI Nero 3. It’s a start to get the tank up and cycling

Quick light test before moving on to building the control board. I’ll add a third 44HD later but for now 2 will get it done.

I swapped the Nuvo nozzles for 1/2 RFG. Only things I still need to get is 2x Nero 5 for oscillating the water and a AI Blade Refugium light but I can start cycling and add those in a few weeks.

I’ll than start the refugium and seed 1 gallon of 5 species copepod and start dosing phyto. I also have a 5 gallon tisbe culture and a couple 1 gallon phyto culture to keep supply going although I’m sure I’ll start another 5 gallon copepod culture soon.

Looking good man! The sumps and pipes scare me of leaking which is why I got AIO lol. Maybe one day I’ll get a sump going

Got it wired and wire management about 80%. Good enough to get it up and running. Once the Nero 5s get here and the UV sterilizer I’ll rip it down one more time to wire them in.

Dry sand is rinsed and in. I’ll fill the system with RODI and get salinity up before I add the live sand

Any guesses how long it takes my 7 Stage 150gpd RODI to fill it? All fresh filters so I’m guessing 12-14hrs

Commenting to follow along! I almost went with this tank, but opted for a SR60 that I started in August. Already looks awesome, going to live through you since I don't have the full sump!
