LOL - I stick my hands in prepared for the attacks...haha! You didn't scare me... Then I go on my merry way trying to pull out some GHA and WHAM! Snuck up and scared the socks off of me...water flying across the room! :( I need gloves!

Yeah my fire clown and my GBR clown both will shoot their shot when my hands are in the tank. The GBR clown is about 4 inches so she can break the skin if she's in a real bad mood. Not fun, but if you mentally prepare yourself for it you won't flinch and make a mess. Just accept that the pain is coming. It's what I had to do keeping bees. It's going to happen at some point and thrashing around is just going to make things worse :)

I had an Ocellaris that used to do this, would drive me absolutely nuts when I would jump and splash water all over the floor lol

@fermentedhiker - no thanks on the bee keeping! WOW...prepare for the pain!
:) point of fact the most pain I experienced keeping bees was when an angry guard bee stung my finger and out of stupid reflex I smacked it with the hive tool(small pry bar essentially) I had in my other hand. The bee sting hurt a little, splitting my finger open with a steel tool hurt a lot, lesson learned the hard way.

Lol I’ve had little love nips from mine :D

I had a nasty tomato clownfish that would strike, it was startling even with a glove! I had to keep him at bay with a net when I had my hands in the tank!

I had the coolest Starry Blenny for years who just passed about 6 months ago...he would see my arm hair when I was vacuuming the tank and mistake it for algae all the time. It may not hurt, but it sure does scare the crap out of you when you’re not ready for it lol

I purchased arm length gloves to stop my clown bitting me.....it soon worked it out and started jumping up out of the water to reach the exposed flesh above

Lol this sums it up here.
Clown Fish are the oceans Chihuahua for sure. And goofy as Heck

Most clowns will eventually attack your hands. The worst I ever had is the clown in my avatar. She was almost 5" and aimed for the webbing between the fingers. HURT SOOOO BAD!!

My current set of Spotcinctus clowns are afraid of my hand and run anytime I go in the tank. I've had them for a 15+ months and still no aggression toward me. They are both big enough that it WILL hurt when they start.
