Innovative marine filter socks

How do you guys clean the filter socks with these aquarium s? I'm worried of breaking the black top in the washing machine

I put mine in the washing machine haven't broken one yet and have been doing it for months

I soak in distilled vinegar for a day and rinse with garden hose then air dry.
