Innovative marine lost their minds

Was debating on getting a waterbox or innovative marine. Just checked today and Innovative marine jacked up their prices by an extra 300$ a system and made it 400$ to drop ship. Anybody have a waterbox 65.4 think I’m going to put a pre order in now

Quality is great but to spend an extra grand on shipping tax and 300$ price increase I just don’t see it now.

They have announced on their website that the prices were going up for a few weeks now.

While yes they announced there prices went up due to tariffs. That should be for future tanks that they receive, not for ones they received pre-tariffs.

Yep I believe they posted price increase May 1. I purchase their 150 EXT about 2 years ago would highly recommend them the tank is solid plus I really like their stands.

If Innovative is a US based company with US built products, I don't see where tariffs would be directly contributing to that significant of a price increase, if at all. I would guess that being based on California is the real culprit. There just does not appear to be any significant sub-assembly or major component, even if imported that would fall under the tariffs AND could add that much of a significant cost.

Unless of course their glass and panel stock is all coming form China

I ended up purchasing a Waterbox 110.4 when it was on sale for Memorial Day. I had the chance to go with the innovative marine 100 but the sump just looked huge took up the whole stand. I love the dimensions of the marine X. Currently putting it together but so far pleased with waterbox

Waterbox just increased their prices as well and they are too a US based company. The glass is made in china I believe. China is the world’s largest manufacturer for glass. Maybe even the plumbing is made in China for most tank brands. the stands are made in the US

Their glass, and manufacturing is in China.

I thought their tanks were manufactured and assembled in China.

May very well be. I would assume most companies are mostly China based. Would love to know if anyone knows for sure how they’re assembled. They both claim to be US brands. Red Sea I believe is straight china

They are built in China, crated and shipped to a warehouse in CA. Then shipped to you.

You can buy directly from China. There is a build on here, Debranded tank or something like that.

Correct. Maybe that will change, I don't know. I had a family member who ran one of the most precise tin float lines in the country. They did tons of milspec stuff and high end instrumentation screen glass, etc. They tried to stay competitive and have some of their glass floated in china, but they could not keep QC in par with requirements. They went under.

Then I would simply buy from @Joe Glass Cages -- assembled here in the US with US labor. I have no idea where the glass come from, but at least you know that the entire enterprise is US based, even if you may not have a choice in materials source.
