Installing Seatorch smart 6000 return pump fittings

I was wondering how these fittings are meant to connect for my Seatorch smart 6000 return pump. The smaller barbed fitting just sits inside the bigger one, there is no locking mechanism. Water pressure will just cause it to pop out, am I meant to glue them together.

Look like you have to glue it into the bigger barbed fitting.
