Internal or external equipment?

Pump and skimmer? Is submerged in the sump or external to the sump better? What are the pros and cons?

If you have in-sump equipment, then any leaks will happen in the sump and won't ruin your floor.

But if you have hob equipment, then you re-introduce the risk of leaks on your floor.

Pump outside, pros are less heat, less space taken up in the sump, and less maintenance. The main benefit to having it in the sump, as stated, is that if it leaks it just leaks into the sump.
