I currently have a a black ice clown in my 28 gallon nanocube. I've had him in there for about 3 months now, but I plan on picking up a second one this weekend. The new fish I am getting was part of a bonded pair, but the other fish had died shortly after the owner received them. He has had this one for about 3 months as well and says it is healthy. I still plan on quarantining it, but wanted to ask what steps I need to take to introduce it to my current clownfish. Also what is the possibility these will pair up? Both still fairly small, 1.5"-2".

I attempted to do this once but I was unsuccessful. I used a floating breeder cup to introduce my clown prior to just placing him in the tank. I would recommend something like that and then watch how the two react to each other, especially at night when the lights are out. If that is successful I would then introduce the clown to the tank but watch very closely for a couple of hours. When I took this step with mine I found that there was added aggression and had to remove the new clown before he got killed.

Good luck.
