So I’ve also had 3 BTAs for over a year now (there was a 4th but it shriveled up and disappeared to oblivion).

I just bought a green BTA today and set it in nicely in the DT

How long should I wait before trying to save the small one being smothered? That one’s foot is deep in that rock - not sure how I’d save it other than trying to move that green one again.

I currently have a S.Gigantea, S.Mertensii, and S. Haddoni all doing fine. As I added additional nems, I did run some rox carbon to attempt to eliminate allelopathy. As said, generally having nems from the same genus and keeping them together isn't a problem.

At the end of the day, my conclusion is that we don't know what this animal is thinking right? So all in all, luck plays part.

Say we purchased an expensive RBTA which is dang expensive here in Australia. Settled well and all.. Happy bubbly etc.

Then tank a bit empty, thought hey let's get another BTA with different colour, let's get Green with orange tip this time which is significantly cheaper compared to RBTA.

Put it in and luck draining short and RBTA lost the battle and gone it goes.

So cheap BTA kills the expensive RBTA, which is ***.

It does happen right?
Not really if theyre both bubbletips.
