Introduction and 200g build thread

For the record all of the tangs in my sig are together except the yellow belly hippo.

All of the angels in my sig as well except the scribbled, flameback, and regal are in a separate tank. No issues at all. They just establish a pecking order and there are so many that no one starts any aggression. The emp runs the show.

Add the fish with the lights off.....They are less likely to pick on each other.....Make sure your rock work has some good caves that each one can claim as their own....That will keep the fighting to a minimum...You may have to kick the bully out of the tank and put him in the sump if you get one.....Everytime I add a new fish I have to put my yellow tang in the sump(to show him who's boss)

Ok. Well I now have prices and sizing on the fish I want to order and I need a little more advice. Obviously I wish to start with the blond naso male at a medium/small for $100

Attached is my price list. I figured yellow at 2.5", the tiny vlamingi, small/medium orange shoulder. And I've already ordered a small Atlantic(Caribbean) blue.

Sorry for all the questions, this is a large chunk of change I am dropping just want to have the best chance of success based off of others experience.

Update.
Ended up getting a spotted sweetlips, Atlantic blue, orange shoulder and blonde naso.

Atlantic blue and spotted sweetlips didn't make it as they refused to eat. :((

Ornate shoulder and naso are getting acquainted in my sump with a glass divider.

Noticed something that's kind of bothering me today on the orange shoulder. His lips appear to have small white specks. Not sure if it's an infection or something.

Not that I know of. From what I'm readino it could be grazing wounds but I feed him almost daily. I actually tried to cut back on feeding fighting high levels.

Just threw some seaweed in to see what he does. I've actually never had any luck with seaweed but apparently people swear tangs need it.

Kept a yellow eye for over a year before I added maroons which murdered it. Never fed seaweed. Only pellets.

Sometimes it can take tangs a little while to figure out nori/seaweed but once they start eating it, it will become their favorite food.

IMO; Tangs absolutely need nori for good health.

So in ur opinion, should I try n feed him Nori in the sump while he is confined or would u say it's safe for him to go in display.
The ornate shoulder has been in the sump for like 3 weeks the naso a day.
They dont seem to be bothered by one another.

I'm fighting a green hair outbreak in display so the orange shoulder may eat more up there

I wanted to see how they did together before throwing them in the display to find out they are gonna fight. Also didnt want to have to fight to pull one of they did fight.

Sump is a 120g 4' tank doesn't look like much in the pic but they are in a 24g section of my sump that's divided by a 1/4" piece of glass. They can see each other but can't touch.

Personally, I'd put them both in the DT and call it a day. If they have any diseases, they already have been sharing water with the rest of the DT by being in the sump.

Wasn't worried about disease. They were QT before Sump. I was worried about them fighting

Dragon Goby (the brackish water fish?) or Dragon Wrasse (the ****** fish?)

Either way, I'd put HIM down in the sump. Permanently. ;)

Gobies can be kinda ornery, but I've never heard of one killing a tang before. :eek: Maybe the tang will shank the goby instead. ;)

Tried scooping him out but ended up stressing the tangs, shut all the lights off for the night can hope that settles it. Peered in a little while ago orange shoulder was breathing kinda heavy but swimming fine.
Poured a little stress guard in and called it a night.

Very distant update. Orange shoulder didn't make it through the night. The naso decided it was going to starve to death and didn't make it past day 4. :(
Therefore I made the executive decision to age the tank, build a massive pod population, get my chemistry down 100% and set up all the fancy equipment.

Recently I noticed a plum of pod development and many snails popping up all over. Quite pleased to see a good bit of life developing, can't wait to pick up the desired tangs in a few months.

This big guy was crawling around my mushroom rock.

Think I finally kicked my aptasia to the curb with a solo peppermint, and I adopted a local large golden maroon clown the other night.

Haven't even been able to interact with her just yet due my work schedule.

Next on the list is refreshing the ATO pump and fine tuning my skimmer.
