I understand as I am currently going thru an upgrade myself. As much as I love the Radions, you don't have to have Radions. You can go with AI lights which are great lights at half the cost and they are owned my Ecotech. Look at it like this, fish couldn't care less on the type of light, only corals do.

For my current planted display tank, and latest build, I bought a Reefer 350 and decked it out with tech, knowing that in time I would want to start a reef tank. Happy to talk about it if anyone is interested.

...so here I am, starting my research and making the jump. Planning a build thread later this year.

Also, I already posted a yet unanswered question about using my three XR15FW's for lighting a reef tank. Any input would be appreciated.

I also had many freshwater tanks, yup even did planted and then a cichlid tank. Much of your water experience will help with some of the learning curve. So with that said, Welcome to R2R and the wonderful folks, information and help.
Patience, it is the big word around here, Reefing is patience to cycle, to watch things grow, to keep your tank balanced. It is way slower than freshwater...but it gives you time to plan even though you just want to fill your tank with all the cool stuff...
I recommend to everyone joining to create a tank build thread.
1. You get to see where you have started and how much you have grown in this hobby.
2. We love pictures and to see what your doing with your tank.
3. It’s a great learning tool for all of us to see what works and doesn’t . We learn great stuff from each other.
Lastly the only bad question here is the one not asked...
