I bought iron tabs at the drug store (ferrous sulfate). I used 2 tabs in a cup of rodi and it lasts forever since you don't need to dose much, I dose about 1 ml per week to feed my chaeto. Very cheap. I think I paid $2.50 for 100 tabs, Natures Bounty was the brand at Walgreen's.

Why use freshwater products in Reef tanks?o_O
I also like to hear Randy's answer.

Because it probably doesn’t matter :) Iron or Chelated Iron is probably still Iron whether the target market is freshwater or salt water. I’m sure Randy will reply when he has time. No rush.

ATI and Red Sea have pretty packaging but I’m not interested in that. With 350 gallons it’s good to make your own due to cost or buy something that’s exactly the same but without the fancy packaging/marketing.

Did give that a try over here in the UK but the tablets didn’t seem to work. Even building up to a large amount didn’t get me any reading on the Red Sea test kit. I’d like to get to a measurable amount like 0.1
