Appears to be the siphon of the clam, which would be totally normal.

So that's what takes the food in ?

Coral wasted
It's the incurrent siphon of the clam, it's where it takes in all water to filter nutrients. I'd read up on some articles from James fatheree to get familiar with proper care and husbandry of clams.
