First of all sorry for my bad English but i hope alle can read and understand :)

Hi Neptun

I began to read up on the apex at the beginning of 2016 if this was something I wanted to use in my aquarium. After having read and seen some video where you tell how good apex is and how secure the system should be i said to myself yes i wish to spend money on a Apex system!

Apex system was not cheap but I wishes to spend my precious money on their system. I bought myself a standard package from neptune and set it up. after a few months where I had tried and seen how this was, I think this worked really well!

After som weeks i found out that i would like to use more of my precious money on their products so I went to purchase a Wav Kit, after having set up the pumps and run a few days i was absolutely in heaven think about be able to control my pumps and everything from anywhere in the world? it's absolutely fantastic and if something happens i will get a message.

Some months afterwards i said to myself that now i wanted to do a really big purch from Neptune so i went grocery shopping 2x Dos 2x DDR,leak detectores and AFS. when this appeared there was a loose object inside a Dos but it has not had any impact on its use.

But then some weeks after all was set up then it began what I feared.

suddenly one day there was built up some algae throughout the aquarium something I did not understand why, I went into the fusion and take a look if there was any problems with my WAV pumps but there were no messages or any messages. After having troubleshoot the whole system I eventually found out that one of my WAV pump had shorted the wav modules so both of pumps stopped. I approached the apex and got new very quickly. i was not think more over that beacuse everyone can have a small error in among. But what I did not like was that it showed a single message inside the fusion that my pumps had stopped.

But then i got me a new frightening experience last week, suddenly all my corals started to lose color, some of the corals died and I understood nothing so I started and test my aquarium and i found out that my MG had fallen from 1250 to 1100 in 1 week something I did not understand how it could. I first thought that it was my Dos pump that had a loose object in itself but after having try and failed i eventually found out that one of my DDR has errors in connection that allows it to take in air and that DOS fail to pull the balling up from the DDR ..

What was supposed to be a secure system for me has been a system I feel I must go and check periodically something I had not expected when purchasing such products.

I again need to start a support to sort out my DDR problems but I hope neptune fix things as those made earlier.

The reason for i made this thread was that I start and get much concerned about whether this really was the way to go or if I simply spent a lot of money on a system that actually is not as secure as they say?

I want advice and whether some are as unlucky as me?

The apex can be a great system, however it is not a set and forget setup. It can let you know when some things are not right and has saved several systems that I have read about. Be sure you understand the settings and have your alerts set up the way you want them. For a while I had mine send me an email and a text every morning at the same time just so I knew it was working

Sorry to hear. I don't have one but I've read some times of issues even when people have aquarium computers. I don't have the money to buy one so I'll probably never.

Sure, that is their business. I mean honestly you could be their compition trying to detour buyers to a different system we don't know. I see it on Amazon a lot. A lot of fake post in the ratings to alter the decision of the buyer.

Neptune systems are great and do exactly what we ask of them Are they fail safe? No. Can parts of their systems brake and cause issues? Sure.

Even using a completely automated system, one would still need to keep a eye on things and watch for any issues.

Sorry this happened, but come back strong!

Nothing is fail "proof", even BRS made mistakes and admitted to them.

Truthfully sounds like part of your problems is user error and this is actually how most failures occur. The APEX is the greatest addition to my reef tank hobby. It has solved and prevented countless problems. You should do more research on how to properly set up and use your equipment and to better understand the capabilities of the APEX.

I'm not familiar with either of those two products. Provide further details on the problems and some pictures so that you can get some help/advice possibly.

How did you have the DOS and DDR installed? Did you use the lines provided or something else? Also is the color connection right? Do you know exactly where it is drawing in the air?

What is the problem with the WAV?

Those push style murlock connections on the DDR will leak air if the tubing isn't fully seated into the fitting. It takes some serious pushing to get them fully seated. I noticed when I first installed my DDR that I failed to get the tubing fully seated into the fittings and it would subsequently pull air into the line. If your's is leaking air into the line, I'd double check both the inside and outside connections to make sure they are firmly in there.

You aren't the only one, that has been frustrated by some of these things.

Once you get it's bugs worked out, it won't be so frustrating and scary.
