You guys think baseball will be cancelled? I was looking forward to another summer of watching my Mets do great for the first 20 games, then blow the rest of the season.

They haven't called it yet. But at best MLB might have a partial season.

Looks like there’s talk of a real late start and a willingness from some players to let the post season happen in December or later. Sounds like if it begins, they would play in empty stadiums. Still lots of folks as far as players and media. The number of games would be quite a bit less than 162. I’ve also heard that some owners might want some exhibition games to warm the players back up.

If the players and owners can come to an agreement, I’d be happy, but if they can’t agree or there are players that aren’t comfortable going forward with games, I’d understand. I think they’re trying to be optimistic and find a way, but it’s still too early to tell.

I’ve been watching classic mlb games and baseball movies to fill a lot of my time. I’m so desperate for baseball, I even enjoyed the 3rd installment of the sandlot the other day starring the late Dylan McKay. Just the crack of the bat, snap of the mitt, or watching some child actors turn two gets my emotions going. I asked baseball to marry me, but it still hasn’t given me an answer.

Probably would have to have a mini-spring season again to get the rust out.

Regarding a shortened season, can’t recall the year (‘90’s? some of the other old timers may remember) but there was a significant strike which shortened the season. In that case they did a first half division winners and 2nd half division winners for playoffs. Not the same case here, but they were creative to make the season work out.

I’m a Reds fan, if I remember correctly they had the best overall record for the “split season” and failed to make the playoffs lol

Wow I am old, the strike split season was 1981!

1994 strike cancelled the remaining season.

If it isn't, it should be. And even if it isn't one should question supporting it. So much going on in the world and here they are paying their stars while inactive over $4,000.00 a day. If that isn't a slap in the face to the world I'm not sure what is. And you know what is going to happen after the fact? It will get passed down to the stadium attendees and over the air TV viewers - nothing is free.

I mean if if Trout hasn't learned by now how to save like any other American for a rainy day...I don't know.

Personally I was looking forward to watching deGrom pitch a sub 3 ERA with sub 2 runs a game run support for another season.

I'm convinced he made some kinda monkey's paw wish about being the best pitcher in baseball :p no matter how well he pitches they can't score
This Mets pitching staff of late reminds me of the Cubs from the early/mid 2000s. If the staff could just stay healthy at the same time they could have panned out to be legendary. I was curious to see how it all came together for the Mets this season. Still lots of potential there. Pitching wins in the playoffs. Just have to get there.

Is american football cancelled............................yet?

I envision games on TV with nobody in the stands

No. It will be similar to basketball or others. Contact will stop it right there. The fact that they are placing plexi glass windows at grocery stores should be telling. Olympics have been postponed, auto sports, list goes on. I mean - Vegas is shut down.

I’m glad to see there are more Mets fans here than Yankees fans. On a positive note at least Syndegard won’t miss much. Let’s go Mets!!

I recall the strike. I was a huge Pirate fan as a kid and my main hobby was baseball cards. After the strike, I lost all respect for the game and havent watched a game since. I didnt go so hard on the NFL when they went on strike. The kneeling BS on the other hand was the straw that broke the camel's back. RIP major league sports.
