My tank is 4 months old. Stable parameters. My mag is 1345. Alk is 7.5. And calcium is 415. I use xr15 light ab + 65%. My sand is 100 par. I tried so far 2 candy canes and no luck. Everything else doing great. They look fluffy in the store and once i get them home completely different look. I got a second one to see if the first one i bought wasnt healthy but it seems like they are not liking my tank and jm not sure why?? Any experience with that.

I’ve always had issues with candy canes, not sure why. Some people say they are one of the easiest. I’ve seen them in all different settings(high flow/low flow/ well lit/shaded areas/ various water parameters)

These are typically forgiving and easy corals and have minimal requirements to be happy. They do best under moderate light and water flow. Too bright of light or inadequate flow and they expel their inner algae called zooxanthellae which seems to be emitting from the center of each polyp. Elevate coral off the sand a little where it can get more light and flow which will keep waste off the coral and feed it mysis shrimp 2-3X per week.

I could always get Duncan’s to eat mysis and thrive, candy canes rarely showed a feeding response for me.
