Is coral dying

Hey Guys, i can’t remember the name of this coral but this coral is getting a lot of algae on it and can’t seem to remove it is the coral dying?

This is the flowerpot in the center? Aside from the hole it looks fine, but I can't really tell what if anything is going on there. If you can, try to take another image under whiter light so we can see more details.

Agreed on flowerpot.

Check the "leaf" structure of that algae against some images of bryopsis. It looks suspiciously similar.

would it be killing the coral when i attempt to remove the algae the coral underneath is brown and looks well dead and not sure how this happened

I'm honestly not sure how it happened, either. If the coral was dead underneath that's probably why the algae was growing there.

Algae doesn't grow on live coral, so the gha is on the skeleton. Impossible to know why that part of the coral died... The algae that's there can irritate the surrounding coral though and eventually it might die, allowing the algae to spread. I'd remove as much as you can manually with tweezers, and use a qtip to dab some hydrogen peroxide on that area (avoiding the live coral tissue) before putting it back in the tank.

Any ideas of what i should do next? it also is very white where’s it’s meant to be pink i do feed it coral food and have it in a place of low light.

Fluconazole to the rescue. Use bulkreefsupply to buy reef flux will clean up all your algae just make sure your skimmer is turned up to suck out the waste products.

I don’t have a reef skimmer i wasn’t told i needed one as my tank is only 60L should i be getting one?

any thoughts of what i should try if this is too much :)
