Is it a miracle or something else?

When i fed my fish this morning, my bristle tooth tang and flame angel each had about 10 distinct white dots on them that im all but certain was ich. I spent all day at work planning my move to get them out and into a quarantine but when i came home the spots are gone….. two days ago i turned my UV off and this morning I turned it back on. Is it possible that a combo of UV and my cleaner wrasse took care of it?

I’m stumped

That is the ich life cycle. The trophonts drop off into the substrate and will most likely come back in higher numbers.

The only way to get your tank 100% ich free is to move all fish to a separate QT and treat with copper for 30 days. At the same time, leave the display tank fallow, no fish, for 45 to 60 days.

As said, that’s how ich infections behave at first.

How long have you had these fish?
Were they quarantined?

It might have been detritus/dust……

I’ve had them for about 4 months…. What’s weird is none of them had any cysts yesterday as i spent a lot of time looking at tank…. This morning boom, it looked bad…. Then this afternoon nothing.

I don’t think they show up and drop off that fast right?

Yes - when ich first starts, it is very easy to miss (just one or two spots) at that time, all of the trophonts are about the same age, so they drop off at the same time. They then form tomonts at the bottom of the tank. these produce theronts which then rise up into the water column and look for fish to attach to to become trophonts. Each time the cycle progresses, there is a bit more variation in timing, until the spots are seen on the fish continuously, and the numbers increase each day.
