I ordered 2 beginner corals for my saltwater tank just to see if I can keep them alive (GSP & Pulsing Xenia) the the seller had a two hour DOA policy and they were shipped with two day shipping. Upon opening the box everything was packaged well but it seemed as if the Xenia was dead already it was brown and falling apart, the green star polyp didn't have any polyps but I understand those can wake up after a while the tank after it acclimates I sent pictures just in case to the seller asking as I am a newbie and they sent me pictures of them before they were packaged saying that that's exactly how they looked when they were packaged and it's fine they aren't dead I'm just posting here to get extra opinions as I'm still unsure and for 24.99 Plus $40 and shipping I want to be sure there's no way to return it now but I do plan on making a trip to the nearest local store which is about 40 minutes away to replace it if so.
The first picture is the one sent from the seller before it was shipped and the rest are what they look like on arrival.

Both still look alive but there is definitely polyp dropping on the xenia. Usually corals should be overnighted.

The GSP should be fine, as someone else on another post stated “GSP could thrive in a toilet bowl” (which I laughed so hard at). But the xenia looks not good

so the pics are what you received or what they sent?
In the pics, they look fine. Maybe show some pics of that they look like in your tank.

Also, you can check your local online classifieds for folks selling corals in your neighborhood. You can easily find GSP and xenia for $10 each.

Xenia looks horrible after shipping, that is normal. I bet they both look fine today.

My first coral was Anthelia polyps sent two days from Hawaii to Vermont. It looked droopy and gray for several days. It survived and thrived.

So unfortunately the Xenia shriveled away to nothingness. I added two new coral frags from my LFS and those and the GSP are doing great. The GSP hasn't opened up any yet so i may change its placement in the tank.
