Hey all,
I noticed yesterday that my acan had started bleaching. I recently had one pass and no idea why as it was happy the night before then the next morning was completely bleached over. Yesterday, I saw that my acan colony was bleaching slightly in the corner but now this morning is nearly completely bleached over and mostly dead. I’m currently dipping for 15 minutes in Continuum Med Tec coral dip but I don’t think there’s any saving that can be done unfortunately. If anyone knows how I can save it please let me know as it’s one of my favourite corals but acans are just hard for me. Somehow I can’t keep acans alive but I have the happiest torch ever.
Thanks in advance!

So not even possible to save if I try frag off the last living bit?
Possible, looks like its skeletonized
Yeah nevermind I don’t have any special fragging tools I can use for LPS cause not like soft corals where simple clean scissors will do but oh well it happens I guess. My mate with a mixed reef tank can keep all corals happy but even acans are hard for him.

i cant think

Let's back up for a second.
How long have you had it?
Parameters of your tank?
Anything that is bothering it?
What about your other corals? How are they doing?

I have 5 hermit crabs, 4 peppermint shrimp, no idea how many snails but quite a few turbo snails and trochus snails, as well as 2 strombus snails and a tuxedo urchin.

For the first question, I’ve had it about 2 weeks only as I bought it already as a colony. Secondly, my Ca is 450ppm, KH is 7.7 dKH, Mg is 1500ppm and PO4 is 0.34ppm, it’s gone up a little as I ran out of Rowaphos so am waiting on more to arrive. In answer to the third question, I can’t think of anything that could possibly be bothering it other than my peppermint shrimp which always go right over to new corals. All of my other corals are thriving, especially my torch which is sitting in about 400 PAR. I’m wondering whether the acan is having trouble because it was in a shaded area with proper lighting but not much flow gets there meaning its tentacles may not have been able to catch food.
