I think it is a lighting issue on my part. I was using a Fluval 11K and running 12 hours a day, the par value was about 180. They need 300-400 to do well. I have moved up to a hydra26k but am struggling with what spectrum to make it.

blue- 85% white - 18% red - 2% Green 3% Purple UV - 90%

Ive had nems melt with low alk. 8 isnt terribly low tho but if i can recall around 7.5 is when mine started to behave weird. Also the only green bubble tip i had in my tank disenigrated into mush while my rose stood by and watched her territory grow a bit more lol. Seems to be the norm with rose vs greens tho.

I run 14 hours but have a 4 hour ramp up and down.
Definately acclimate the nem to the new lights..

They do not need 300 to 400 par.
We have been keeping BTAs since the days of NO fluorescent fixtures just fine.
Matter of fact that probably is your issue.. It is hiding under that ledge most likely because you upgraded to a better fixture and it needs to acclimate to your higher light levels.

Okay that could very well be the problem, (the light levels). I was shooting for 300-400. Let me lower it a bit, thank you.

How is the nem looking now?
I am not sure if he is looking better for wear or not. I fed him today with a syringe in his mouth. My clownfish who has bonded with the anemone doesn't seem to feed him. So that could be part of my problem.

Have you seen where clownfish don't share the grub with the anemone?

I was going to say it was hiding and that the light may be too much too quick. I just moved a scoly up two inches and have the light cut back by 30% for a month.

IT's wide open and seems happy. I fed it after a day. Will try and report in again in about a month.

I use one hydra 26. 60% power. Over Nuvo 40. Ghost skimmer. refugium. Have not did a water change in over a year. 180 nitrates. I think flow is very important. Light. And don’t change things. I never stick my hands in the tank. They hate change. I feed dried mysis shrimp to fish that’s it. Run my heater at 79. I just did, about a 80% water change nitrates down to 40. Imma get them back down to zero and won’t touch it again.

Step up diet adding frozen such as LRS or RODS and add vitamin such as Selcon to their food.
An occasional water change is both essential and beneficial. Stability is great but so is optimized husbandry
