I recently added this rainbow chalice about a month ago to my tank along with another chalice which you can see and other corals. It was doing good however it recently fell on the sand because of my hermit and I moved it back up but the tissue looked weird after that (not sure if me handling it caused damage). Today I noticed it may be receding but not sure I need your opinions on this and how can I get it fixed? I changed my light recently and it’s not receiving about 240-250par which I understand it’s too high but not sure if this is a sign of bleacing because the top side that’s actually more exposed to the light is looking fine and the bottom area looks like this. I should note that I recently also had a ato malfunction but caught it somewhat early. It brought down my salinity from 1.026 to 1.023 but I was able to bring it up gradually right now to between 1.024-1.025. I should note all my other corals (torch, hammers, acans, zoas, other chalice, and duncan) are doing pretty good. Could it also be a getting stung by the other chalice?

My parameters are:

Alk: 9dkh
Calcium: 501ppm
Magnesium: 1240ppm
Phosphate: 0.18ppm (still working on bringing it down it was really high about 1.5 month ago)
Nitrate: 0 (taking out biomedia slowly if it doesn’t work I’ll dose neo nitro)

did you break part of the edge off when you picked it up? If you did its fine and will look jagged until it starts growing again

I’m not 100% sure but I think that might have happened. My main issue isn’t it lifting up from the plug but the whitish spot I circled in red. Maybe I’m just overreacting idk 😅

if you broke off a spot it will look white where the coral edge broke....usually pretty thin around edges and crummble easy. I cant see that well from your picture.

Might just got damaged from the fall into the sand. They generally like less light than most corals lower in tank to bottom is fine

You think I should bring it down more or should I lower my light intensity? I’m getting around 150-160par on the sandbed

I cant tell since a cant really see how you have it in the tank and view how strong your light look. You dont want it in the middle of the tank...meaning where the light is the strongest. More off to the side or lower is best. Does it look to be bleaching. I cant tell from the pictures
