Hello, yesterday I saw my clam wasn’t opening all the way, and thought nothing much of it but today it was far worse. Is the clam dying? The mantle is more retracted inside the shell

Look at the underside for some tiny white snails, do you take the clam out of the water much2often?

A.

I’ve never removed it from the Aquarium. I’ve checked it before for pyramid snails but did not find any, I’ll have to check again in case

Sorry to hear, from the previous pic that was gaping. Did you visually check the clam before tossing it? Pyramids are good at hiding.

Yup, could not find any pyramids on it. No idea what happened but I pulled it out, it’s a shame but it is what it is I suppose. Wish I knew what happened though

Almost 2 months only. But I still have my Hippoppus clam and I've had that one for a little over a year now! I'd highly recommend those as a first clam

I got a Squamosa. It's about 2-1/2" long. Have had him a week now. So far, so good.
