This is my first duncan and I got it about a week ago and it was doing good for about 3 days and then it started not coming out. I have a torch and a hammer that have been in here for a long time that are doing great. The duncan has a white skeleton and is shrunken up but the inside is still green and I can see a mouth. I have been seeing a brown stringing substance on it and right now the skeleton is covered in the brown stuff. if I blow the brown stuff off it's just white again and will come back in a few hours. Not sure if it's bjd or not.

is that something that would happen from the lfs? or is it my fault or is it just a random thing?
Could be something brought in from the lfs. Do you have a pic of it from the lfs tank or when you first got it? Any idea if it was a fresh cut frag? Duncans are usually pretty hardy they tend to do well in a wide range of parameters including light and flow. They are at their most vulnerable after fragging as they tend to cover the entire skeleton in flesh unlike torches and hammers, so they need to be handled with care during the time from fragging until the flesh that was cut is healed. Any time I fragged one of my colonies in the past I gave it a couple weeks of healing time in a lower flow area. I also dipped it in an iodine bath after fragging, same kind of care if say you fragged a chalice. For what it worth I never liked fragging either of those very easy time to lose an entire colony.
