Is my firefish claustrophobic?

My firefish doesn’t seem to understand that firefish are supposed to live in caves. My firefish just lays on the sand out in the open to sleep, even though there are plenty of caves and little spaces available in the rocks. I thought he was dead the first time I saw him like this, but he’s been sleeping out in the open like this every day for the last week or so, since I added him to the tank.

Sometimes new additions take a bit of time to adjust. Any other odd behavior?
