2 PART DOSING Q: Could my mag at 1440 be impacting the impact of 2 part? Using B-Ionic on my 200 gallon mixed reef. I stopped dosing mag months ago when it shot up to 1600. It’s since gone down. I deplete about 1.5dkh daily. I’m currently dosing 70ml each of alk and ca on opposite 12 hour schedules. Ca is 500. Dkh is 6.7-7.0. pH is 7.89. Do I just increase the 2 part dosing components and ignore mag number to raise alk and lower ca? Or stop all 2 part until mag gets into 1350 range and then pick up??? Any suggestions?

You're fine, I actually try to keep my Mag at 1440 and I run my Alk at 9.3. It significantly helps with my pH level with a house that is sealed up for most of the summer being in Arizona.

Thanks! Do you just suggest increasing 2 part dosing to get alk into 8.0 zone and ca lower into 450 zone??

I would just slowly start raising your ALK dosing until you get it where you want and cease CA until it's down where you need it. Then adjust fire so you keep those levels.

I agree with this...

And I keep my mag closer to 1500ppm. I've seen some anecdotal evidence that higher mag can help with problematic algaes. It doesn't seem to do any harm so I like it there/
