Is my Kenya Tree dead?

Hello! I got an order from Living Reef Orlando and one of my coral I got was a teal Kenya Tree. All the coral seemed fine except when I opened this one, the bag reeked and the coral was shriveled up. I have put it in the tank for about two hours and it still hasn’t changed. Any help in knowing if it is dead or if Kenya trees normally smell.

Need to be in medium flow and assure your phosphate level is Not elevated

2 hours in the tank is a very short time, corals can take days or weeks to acclimate to your tank. But this coral needs good water movement so place it accordingly.

Kenya trees do not smell - and I would tend to remove it as the chemicals it can release in that state often are toxic. All of that said they can be very hardy and can come back - but I would not leave that one in my main aquarium. I would also use carbon in the aquarium (activated carbon)

I had a Green Kenya Tree fragshow up like that and I left it in the tank. It died off but then the tinniest spots where it was attached to the frag plug grew back and now I have beautiful trees. I made sure I had fresh carbon in my tank in case there was any toxin release so nothing bad occurred.

You might be glad that it didn't survive, once established, these spread in your tank and are not easy to get rid of.
