Is my wave maker too strong for clowns?

Hey all,

I just got a pair of clown fish and am worried about my wavemakers. They seem to be being pushed around a bit, but I don't know if that is normal. I have a 4ft 75 gal so I have some pretty powerful wavemakers.

The top of the tank has much higher flow then the bottom so it's possible they are still learning the tank.

that amount of flow is perfectly fine. clowns are very strong swimmers despite their goofy antics. Welcome to the forum!

Got one of them to work and I dont see an issue. Just make sure you have enough rocks for hiding places. Fish need a place of their own to hide and sleep.

I have 2x Hygger wavemakers at 2,600 gph. They are DC so in theory I can adjust them but the controllers are terrible. I can only control the frequency when in waveform mode and can only control the magnitude if in constant flow mode.

you should be able to control the power level regardless of the flow mode, I am quite familiar with Hygger pumps and use their gyres on most of my systems.

Thats interesting. I use the Hygger 165 25W. Maybe I am missing something.

Yeah I should have went with something like that. I have a lot of Hygger stuff in my freshwater tanks and it has done well for me, but I was super disappointed by the lack of features in this specific wavemaker. Debated going out an buying an AI or VorTech to replace, but those are so expensive. Will stick with these guys for a while.
