If you got out of reefing would you ever consider a planted tank or any other type of aquarium?

I don't think they are mutually exclusive, I have a reef tank, a Discus tank and a planted tank, I enjoy having the diversity of 3 different tanks and each needs looking after in different ways.
As said above, the two non reef tanks take more looking after than a reef tank

No, it's a reef tank or nothing for me. I've had freshwater tanks in the past, but found them too plain for my liking.

Exactly same experience, freshwater is not an option after having a reef.

i used to run planted tanks with discus fish 20 years ago but i got tired of it so i switched to reef been reefing ever since ive never had the desire to go back
I had one 1980 that started with quarter sized fish, when I converted to salt they were softball sized, No muss no fuss
that was the most relaxing tank I have owned. Salt is the greatest challenge other than my 3 daughters ;Blackeye

Wow! I’m surprised not to many people here wouldn't even consider fw. I feel like there is so much you can do in with freshwater and maybe they just haven’t found the right thing. Well to each there own.

I'm with you on this. I really enjoy the contrast between my planted and reef tanks. Each have their own challenges. I will say though that if I was forced to keep one or the other, it would definitely be the reef.
