Is the anemone dead?

My BTA just got delivered. It was delayed in shipping on Friday, so it didn't get delivered till 3 days later. Is the anemone pretty much dead? Can it be saved?

It looks like the foot is attached to the bag, but other than that, It does not look too good...

it might live? I'd get it in some clean water and place it in a basket in your DT (or QT) and try to find some ciprofloxacin incase it develops a bacterial infection.

If the BTA doesn't make it. They should be able to offer you a refund since it wasn't your fault

If the foot is indeed attached to the bag. It has a chance. The water is a bit murky but it could have just expelled food during shipping. I would bag float for 15 minutes, rinse with tank water before placing in display. Keep an eye on it. Usually they go pretty quick if they are dying.

If the anemone develops bacterial infection and I put it in my DT, it'll spread correct?

It’s not looking great. Do you have decent flow and some type of filtration on the 5g tank? Shipping stress can cause bacterial issues so you may be dealing with that. Hopefully an anemone expert will chime in for you.

If you have other anemones in your display then QT is the right call. If not, personally I’d be tempted to place it in a basket in the DT for the most stable conditions and best light.

I’ve had a new carpet anemone shown signs of a bacterial infection in my DT. I pulled it, treated it and when placed back in the DT it did not get reinfected.
