Sorry for the novel I wrote. I just wanted to explain the best I could to get the right opinions.
I have a 75 gallon reef I am prepping to try some sps corals and need some help determining if my lighting is adequate. I believe it is but am worried that the lighting may be too strong. If you look at the image you will see my canopy is pretty low to the surface of the water. Inside my canopy I have a 165 watt black box led its about 6 inched off the surface. Then I have a 59 watt Fluval LED strip that spans the 48 inch tank. I wasn't getting enough light with the black box its self to light the tank from end to end so I added the 59 watt strip. The LED Strip is about 3 inches off the surface. Without a meter, I can only guess that the par in the middle of the reef is probably in the 400 to 500 range because it is so close to the water. Is this to much? or can I just start at the lower part of the reef and work them up
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
