Is this a good Chinese LED bulb?

As I work on my next build, I don't want to stray away from the awesome path that is reef radiance refugium bulbs, but I think I found a nice looking budget friendly LED bulb from China.

Looking for insight from the R2R community. I would love to use the 54W bulb over my 29g mangrove/macro algae build.

There is no way that heatsink can handle those LEDs beyond around a watt apiece, so that PAR38 is in the 18-20w range, not 54w. You don't want ultra cool white LEDs over mangroves or macros, they won't look good for one, and for two they like red light.

Thanks. That was one of my concerns (well the red light). My current macros have been enjoying my reef radiance LED's. I was thinking of adding a second bulb or more red LEDs too.

You don't need dedicated red LEDs, warm white covers more spectrum and doesn't give little red shimmer lines. :)

Agreed Warm white covers a good portion of the 600-680 nm.

That said I like to mix the 600-680 with Hyper Red, Red, Royal Blue and Violet with Cool and Warm LEDs to optimize efficiency in Plant and Macro Algae growth.

Also I for forgot to note jedimasterben, the Heatsinks on PAR 38 are often on the weak side. Our experience with PAR38s with LEDs Driven over 40% is they heat up rather quickly without active cooling and their drivers fail shortly due to this heat.

Its an engineering thing and they normally last a month or two after the warranty.
