Is this a hydroid or something else?

Found this on one of my hammers and another one on a stylo this morning. It first I thought it was remnants of one of my wrasses' mucus cocoons or a molt of an amphipod. But now I am not sure. It looks like it might also be a pineapple sponge baed on the photos in the guide.

first picture looks like a pineapple sponge, second does resemble a hydroid, but i've never seen them to be that big so it could definitely be something else.

Hmmmm. Thanks for getting back to me. I've read the pineapple sponges show up when there are high silicates. I just did a 25% water change with RODI from a LFS out on Long Island as my RODI unit is currently out of commission. So if they're indeed sponges that could be why.
