1st thoughts is this is start of hair algae, but im not sure. It’s white/mucous in appearance. No green coloration so far that I can see.
It’s only accumulating on the underside of my rock structures. When trying to grab it with hands or forceps, it just disintegrates or at least will not pull away in the hands or forceps.
I just noticed it yesterday for the 1st time. At 1st I thought it was due to some dosing I did yesterday morning, and some weird side affects from the way things interacted. I addd Brightwell reef code an and b. Along with the KZ color system 1-4. I also fed my corals some reef roids.
I just checked my levels. Phosphate is slightly higher than i like at .11 and nitrate is 13.6. Ph ranges from 7.9-8.4. Salinity is 35.2. Calcium 449. Mg 1401. ALK 10.05 and ORP 336
I thought if it were hair algae, that it would suck up all the po4, but so far that is not the case.
Only other system change, is that I finally got around to hooking up my ozone generator and reactor 2 days ago. It’s been running for 6 hours at night, and my water is as clear as it has been as a result, and I wouldn’t think ozone could cause this, but since I have no idea what “this” is, wanted to mention it along with all system additions.
Previous to noticing this “slime” I did lose one small hammer coral a 3 or 4 days ago after I dosed a small batch of some homemade coral snow (1tbs of calcium carbonate powder with 100ml of rodi) about 7days prior. The day after the snow treatment, I noticed this one hammer that had just started to split, the smallest head contracted completely and the larger of the two heads shrunk to about 1/2 it’s normal size then completely closed a few days later. I don’t know if the snow treatment timing was just a coincidence or the cause.
I lost my Royal Gramma yesterday as well, but all other fish look healthy and are eating.
That’s about all I can think of as far as the recent history of my tank.
Here is a small video clip in sunlit tank (no tank lights on)
