2 Oc. Clownfish

1 Spotted Coral croucher

1 cleaner shrimp

3-4 hermit crabs

Any suggestions for stocking ideas or changes to current plan would be wonderful! I am new to saltwater but have kept multiple freshwater aquariums. Thank you in advance!
Edit: any beginner coral suggestions would be great also!

The clowns may pick on the croucher, to their own detriment. Not sure that's a match. Clowns can be vicious.

I would recommend 2-3 Astraea snails to help with cleanup.

Tank might be too small for a cleaner shrimp. No sure you can keep it fed.

Do you think I should keep it at 2 clowns or is there possibly another fish I could put in there? Thanks for the advice!

Depends on your biological filter as to fish load. However, interaction between fish suggest that fewer is better than more. GSB & Xenia are easy soft corals as are most mushrooms.

I'd say you'd be good to go. For the shrimp you can always give the shrimp sinking pellets a few times a week to keep them fed. My skunks in my 150 rarely clean the fish but rather forage for leftovers and they've been in the tank for 3 years now.

My daughter's tank is that same size and she has an ocellaris clown, yellow tail damsel, neon goby, yellow watchman, royal gramma, and a pistol shrimp along with about 10 hermits and 3 snails. Everyone's just happy as can be.

Same size as your aquarium or mine?

For now I would stick with just the two clowns, or add one smaller fish now and let it become established and then add the 2 clowns. On a 15 gallon tank you're maxed out at 3 fish. Adding more fish is more likely to increase the odds of disease setting in. The more fish you add the more unstable a young tank will be. Personally I keep one fish in a 14 gallon.

I'll agree, I would likely have one fish in a 15 gallon.

To the OP, this is your first SW, don't overpack with fish....you can always upgrade if you enjoy this hobby and get more fish.

I did a quick look at Live Aquaria recommendations, croucher minimum 30 gallons, Occ. Clown min 20 gallons...I assume single fish.

I currently have a 29 gallon with two mature percula clowns and a sixline wrasse, can't add any more due to the sixline and likely would only have 4 small fish in a 30. My clowns are around 18 years old and been in the 29 for 14 years, I've had the sixline for several years.

OK, thanks for the great response! the coral croucher tank size recommendation was weird because in the description it says 10 gallons or more. And the spotted coral croucher was rated for a 10 in description and the little information boxes. But yeah I am thinking maybe no clowns, so any other fish recomendations would be really good if I don't do the clowns.

You can add more inverts. Definitely going to need some snails for the rock work and the sand. Would be a good idea to wait a couple weeks for the first sign of the uglies to set in, just to ensure your snails don’t starve. I currently have 14 snails of various species in the same size tank as well as two hermits one emerald and two clowns. If you’re ever wondering if you’re in inverts may be lacking food just add half an algae wafer and keep an eye on your phosphates.
