I got these guys from a tank acquisition and they’ve been in this quarantine tank for three weeks while I cycled the new tank This morning. I’ve noticed the yellow tang got this scale white film on him. They’re all eating. She’s not behaving any differently. She hides when I come, but she’s always done that. Please advise.

i SEE MUCUS CONES LIKELY MIXED IN WITH ICH and recommend treating all fish with coppersafe for full 30 days at 2.25 ppm monitored with a Hanna brand copper test kit and leaving tank without fish for 45 days

Cuda, the Medics need more info about your Fish. Is the any medication in your QT Tank? What is the Ammonia Level? Do you have an Airstone going? I see elevated respiration and Lympho on your Yellow. I'm not convinced this is Ich. Are they Flashing or Scratching?

No medication yet,no ammonia but elevated levels of Nitrate and Phosphate, I’ve added beneficial bacteria to normalize water parameters. I do have an air stone that I run all night but not during the day. No flashing or scratching.

Correction, I’ve just tested for ammonia and I’m reading 0.25 on the API test kit

The airstone should be run 24Hrs. a day. Ammonia is not a problem yet but should be monitored. The Bacteria could be using O2 so may be leading to elevated Respiration. This could be Ich but I would expect some "grains of salt" on the Fins. Is he scratching or flashing?

I see possible "mucus plugs", but that *could* be mixed with ich. The fish is also breathing a bit fast. I agree, I'd start coppersafe or copper power at 2.25 ppm measured with a good test kit, like the Hanna HR copper meter. That will resolve ich or velvet. Be aware that these two products will also give a slightly high false ammonia reading (adding about 0.5 ppm to the reading you are already seeing).

No not velvet I would say. By the time you see velvet the fish is on its last leg, dying. Also the rest is the tank would be wrecked.

The skin part looks to be skin irritation. Which can be caused by ich.
