can an excessive bioload cause a bacterial bloom? one of the tubs leaked as i was away so i put them all in one tub in the interim. after work im going to go get another tub and split them up again. but the other tub is now very cloudy after i put the other fish, sponge media, and filter sponge in it. or should i leave it all together?

Can you test for ammonia? That’s the most dangerous issue from excessive bioload.

i did, the ammonia was actually at .6 but nitrates were at 72. so ill be doing a 50 percent water change today.

today we start the process if putting them back into the tank!!

been a long 90 days and the whole time they were in their with the copper and hypo salinity. i dosed the last prazi dose for safe measures. this was a crazy experience but i learned alot from it and now have a continuous quarantine set up! the fish who survived are:
Foxface
clowns x2
chromis x2 (had6) lost some to mechanical errors
antias x3
tomini tang
starry blenny

i lost:
flame angel
mandarin goby (to osmotic shock most likely)
naso tang
scopas tang (stuck in pump)
chromis x4


how can i reintroduce them? currently the qt is at 1.018. how much ppt at a time increase can they handle?

You need to get it up to the SG of your display. I try to avoid any rise greater than about 2 ppt at any one time.

2 ppt per 24 hours with 2 increases is a rate that many people use.
