Anyone have pictures of these on your tank? I'm thinking of getting on for my 90. I'm curious if there is any shimmer like halides have. Also if it will be enough light for my mixed reef.

I have 2 over my 180g tank. They have been running 24/7 for over 10 months now. It's going to take one heck of a great fixture to get me to change them.






And just in case you have any concerns about this fixtures ability to grow coral... Here is a pic of what was a less than 1" broken frag of birdsnest that had 3 extremely tiny growing 'bumps' at the good end and a fresh break at the other end. I tied and hung off the center brace in my 180g. That was in Dec 2012. This pic was 3 or 4 months ago and it was the size of a baseball. Today it is even bigger than a softball and has more than 100 growing tips! If you want to see it today, let me know and I'll take a new photo for you.

I had 4 250W MH before I switched. The leds don't have as much shimmer, but there is still some. And since I added wave makers there is a lot more! :wink:

I've been running my 2080 for about 6 months now with decent results. What settings are you guys using? Mine peaks at 60:40 blue:white for 5 hours with a ramp up and down each side of that of 15% per hour. I know water chemistry is important too but I feel like my light could give me more I just don't want to go too far and cause issues. I've got a standard 90 gallon with the unit 9" above the water.

I've been doing an 8 hour sunrise, 1 hour midday peak and an 8 hour sunset. Blues go up and down 10% every hour with the midday peak of 80%. The whites start 3 hours late and only go up 5% the first 2 hours and then 10% after that, so they peak at 40% for midday. I love watching the tank go from blue to white and back to blue. And the corals are doing just as well as when I did a 4 hour sunrise, 5 hour midday and 4 hour sunset.

Before that it was an 8 hour day of 1000w of MH, 160w of t5 and 100w of leds. The corals are just as healthy and grow just as fast. My electric bill has gone down due to less power to the leds, less chiller run time and less house A/C run time. Between power savings and no bulb replacement, my led fixtures will pay for themselves in just over 2 years!

Just saw this post Ron. I'll work on getting a picture up. I'm still trying to figure out how I want my sunrise/sunset. Is cool to see the transition. When the lights are just on blues at anything over ten percent, the coral colors are nuts.

There doing good. Wish I could say the same for all my corals....having some odd die off. Thinking it was caused by a Kalk mishap.

I've been running the IT2080 over my 48x24x18 LPS tanks for 3 months now. So far I'm very happy with the light. I have the light 11" above the water and I run a 11 hour sunrise/sunset with blue maxing at 45% and whites at 15%. The light has 90 degree optics.

Blue is better for LPS cause there found in deeper water scribe. dont forget about that part lol why do you think people run only blue+ blues most of the time on t5 fixtures.
