Hello all,

My venture into saltwater took a 2.5 year hiatus, but I am finally back. My stats for the two last year: tanks purchased 3, tanks full of water 1, Tanks sold 2... Wife still happy? Accomplished

For this build, I picked up a new SC Aquariums 120G tank off a local reefer who had two of them. The tank came with a nice cherry stand & canopy which I am not using. Water went in on 11-15-16. The 4' tank fit the space much better than the 6' and 8' tanks that have sat in my garage over the last two years. The floor has also been reinforced in the crawl space.

My next project will be determining how to make water changes easier with limited space under the stand and no great water sources nearby with how our house floor plan is. The tank backs up to the garage.

Equipment:

SCA 120G with a Herbie
Octopus SRO 2000 @ 6"
Reefbreeders 48 V2
Eheim 1262
RKL
40B sump
TLF 150 Reactor
Tunze 6095

Life inside:

~100 lbs of rock
~ 80 lbs of sand
Hopefully some bacteria

To come from LA on 12-13 and into the QT for observation:

Eight Lined Flasher Wrasse
Hooded Flasher Wrasse
Lubbocks Wrasse
Two Clowns
YWG
Royal Gamma

Welcome back to the hobby, Jacob! Nice build so far. We look forward to seeing this come together. The 8 line flasher wrasses is one of my favorites. Beautiful. Post some pics for us when you get the order in. Good luck and happy reefing! :)

DOA on arrival was the hooded wrasse and Lubbock. LA is crediting and will ship if I request.

8 Line, Royal Gamma and YWG have eaten in the QT. The clowns have not to this point, one of them is tiny and can't be more than 45-60 days old.

Ordered an Aqualifter to finish the ATO.

Finished my dosing pump setup today with the BRS pumps. I wish they were quieter!

March 1 update!

Tank acquired fish faster than expected and thanks to some poor LA shipments, the stock list has changed quite a bit. My nitrates and phosphates seem to be doing decent, most likely due to a hair algae outbreak. I hope I am another GFO change away from everything smoothing out. The tank has had its 3 month birthday.

Current stock list:

2 Clowns
2 Chromes
2 Lyretail Anthias
1 Yellow Tang
1 Tomini Tang
1 Lubbocks Wrasse
1 Angular Wrasse (likes to attempt suicide)
1 Yellow Watchman Goby
1 Royal Gamma
1 Hooded Wrasse
2 Cleaner Shrimp
1 Fire Shrimp

There are about a dozen SPS frags courtesy of INDMAS Members. Currently, all corals are growing nicely. I am looking to pickup another 3-5 SPS frags this month then let the tank go on cruise control.

March Goals:

Remove hair algae in the tank
Grow some coraline algae
Slowly raise ALK up to around 8.5 instead of 7.5
Learn to mount corals on live rock
Keep dosing pumps in control

I've added about 12 Trochus snails in the last couple weeks, seems like 1 out of every 4 survives and doesn't become hermit food.

Did you check your RO/DI water? If you have po4 coming from your rodi, gfo is not gonna work. How often you change your gfo?

RO/DI has 0 TDS, dual stage DI with inline monitors.

Changing GFO every 2-3 weeks at the moment. 3/4 to 1 cup of BRS GFO. I won't go higher than that to avoid hurting the sps which is growing.
