Ok, I bought the jbj desktop aquarium because I needed a frag tank and this one had nice dimensions. Although it comes with a filter, it was not designed with a reefer in mind. So let the modifications begin. The idea was to make this look as stock as possible.

To fit a protein skimmer, I need to modify some parts I have. I want to use all the parts I have before buying. Check out my mini skimmer pump. Made from an air valve and a mini usb pump.

Finally have some water in. However I will probably need to change the return. The spin stream is kicking up too much sand. Will update once I have it fixed.

I had never heard of that. I might try some for my future 40 gallon build.

I've done mixed reefs this time I was planning for a small acro dominant system. I think the rock flowers would give some nice variation as long as they stay on their island, but I might do a clam instead. Those look like kessil a80s, how do you like them?

That sounds like a nice tank you are planning. So far I like the Kessil A80s I won one in a raffle and had it lying around for a few years before this project. But I do like the look of the light. Nice spread for this shallow tank.

Just got a voltage regulator for my mini protein skimmer to improve adjustments. Let’s see how it works. I’ll post pics of the results.
