In anticipation of heading out of town for a week, I set up a Jebao dp-4 pump yesterday to dose my ab+ and "all for reef.". I have a 30 gallon nano system and dose about 4 ml of each by hand daily.

I calibrated the pumps, manually filled the lines, and ran a test dose by setting the time. Everything worked as it was supposed to. Tonight, I checked the reservoirs to make sure everything looked good, and my 100 ml reservoir of the AFR was empty. I scrolled both programs (ab+ and AFR), and they are identical. I filled the reservoir with r/o and let the pump dose once more--it was only 5 min to the next scheduled dose)--and it only dosed the 2 ml that it was supposed to dose. What the heck happened?

Ph went from 7.9 yesterday to 8.3 today and dkh went from 9.8 to 13.2.

I'm going to do a 5 gal h2o change tonight as soon as the salt is mixed and temped--I'm afraid to do too much more to deplete my phos and nitrates (sitting at 0.05 and 7.5 when I tested yesterday and haven't retested today... yet).

After w/c, I am wondering what the best course of action is. I will test alk again after the wc, but am wondering even more about this week ahead.

Do I...

Don't dose AFR and let alk come down slowly?
Throw out the dp-4?
Hope like hell my corals (mixed softies, lps, sps) can take the swing?
Worry about die-off leading to a whole tank crash while I am out of town?
Curl up in the fetal position and cry?

Any suggestions are welcome!

Assure you saved the settings you entered on screen
Obviously you want to check levels now and so several water changes
I have the Apex DISCand as reliable as it is, although I have someone to check on my tank daily when I go on extended trips, I always unplug:
Heater- DOS and ATO
These three will be the ones to cause A VERY UNHAPPY RETURN home
Corals can do without the dosages for a week

I used a jeabo doser for a year without issue. I have a DOS now because I got it for free. I hated programming the jeabo.. idk how they are now but I had to manually enter each change pushing 1000 buttons lol and I had to adjust my dosing every so often. So annoying.

If you ordered on Amazon, you can return it. Otherwise I would probably keep it and mess with it when you get back. It might come in handy some day for dosing something else.

Never make changes before you are about to leave town if you can help it. Always better to run new equiptment for a few weeks.

The Kamoer X1 dosers are popular for all for reef since you just need 1 head anyways so they are cheap. I think you can only program up to 12 doses a day though but it is easy/fast through the app (no 1000 buttons!).
