Hey guys!

I am looking to replace two absolutely ancient MP-10's on my 25 lagoon, and I am considering the much more affordable Jebao DMP alternatives. Does anyone have any first hand experience with these pumps? Would you recommended them or not? Could anyone tell me what would be the closest to an MP-10 in terms of water flow and physical size? I'm thinking the DMP-20? I am considering the DMP-25's for a little extra punch, though I don't know if they would be physically too large for my 25 gallon. This tank is bare bottom, no fish, and hoping to stock with SPS. Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

I have a dmp 20 in my RS170, 35g's. It has been running for 8 months and I have cleaned it once.
I have a Tunze powerhead cover over the pump as this is a nem system.
Just took this
Lights not on yet.
The dmp only goes as low as 35% so keep that in mind.
When the nem expands it is very close to the powerhead but the gaurd has worked well.

Thank you, I very much appreciate your help here! Would you say that the DMP-20 is the closest to an MP-10 in terms of performance and physical size? For literally a couple buck more I can get the DMP-25's, but I'm worried they will be too big, especially knowing they can't be turned down lower than 35%.

The "match" of an Ecotech MP10 would be the Jebao DMP10. I have eight MP40's and refuse to continue to buy Ecotech Wetsides. The DMP40 wetsides perfectly fit to the MP40 Dryside....at a third of the cost. I would juess a DMP10 wetside would fit the Ecotech MP10 Dryside....another option for you. If you do this, let us know because I have a bunch of MP10's as well.

Not sure as I have never had an mp. I prefer pumps that are not in a fixed position but for the money I wanted to try one.

I recently ordered 2x of the DMP-20s so can let you know! But am now super concerned since I didn't know 35% was the min 😅

^This, 100%. I looked at replacing my wet sides (again!) and realized I could get a whole DMP for the cost of an EcoTech westside 🤪

Thank you very much for your help!

I have 2 of the DMP-40 on my new 150g tank. It is set to 50. Totally silent and moves the water well.
Thank you, I very much appreciate your opinion and help!

Yes, please let me know what you think when they arrive! Thank you for your reply!

I am biased because I currently have 4 scp-150 gyres for sale on this board, but I have Jebao gyres and return pumps on my tank. I used to own the high end pumps, they’re not any quieter or move water better than the jebao, honestly. Until they give me trouble I’ll keep buying them.

I see it as not a lot different than high end furniture sales. Family member would sell luxury furniture at one cost to retailer A who marked one price and the same set to retailer B who sold for a fraction of the cost. It just depends where the buyer chose to shop to determine which price they’d pay for the same piece. I think the jebao pumps don’t have some of the bells and whistles and app control that some other brands offer, but quiet operation and moves a ton of water is in their resume. So far I haven’t had one stop working.

The next assessment is that for some of the pumps and their equivalents in the high end brand, you may be able to buy 7-10 Jebao for the price of one of the luxury branded pumps. Even if they lasted only two years, you have decades worth of brand new pumps to be using in the meantime. Most people jump out of the hobby before then.

Yes, I agree. I can buy an entire DMP pump for the cost of an MP-10 westside. I'm glad to hear that you like yours!

Is the DMP-10 really the best match to an MP-10? I know it seems intuitive, but for some reason I thought the DMP-10 was a very small pump. Maybe I'm mistaken?

Just to be clear, they sell the Jebao wetsides by themselves....and that's what I purchased to replace the Ecotech Wetsides...that I've purchased replacements for replacements. They don't seem to last as long as they use to in the past. I've had some die at about a year and a half....swollen magnets.

So you've used a DMP wetside on an MP-10 and it worked well? That's good to know 🙂

NO! I've used DMP 40 wetsides on Ecotech MP40 drysides and work perfectly.....I've ordered and am currently using two so far. I too would like to know if DMP10 wetsides work on MP10 drysides. Seeing the results of the DMP40's, I'm guessing it will work. IF anyone knows, please speak up. The next order I put in for DMP40 wetsides, I'll add in a DMP10 wetside, because I'd like to know.

So I'm sold on trying these DMP's, and I think I'l get the whole pump since my MP-10 dry sides are quite noisy too. It would be great to know if the DMP-10 westside can be used with an MP-10 dry side.

What do you guys think would be the best sized DMP for my IM 25 lagoon? Again, bare bottom and hoping to keep SPS.

Thanks guys!

I can’t vouch for the DMPs but I do have a pair of Jebao SDW-5s that have been running in my tank since May 2021 and are still going strong. I’d like to upgrade eventually and since Vortechs are out of the question I’ve been eyeing the DMP-10s.
